The program or software that is used to control the waste incinerator stores and captures all data. The software will store every 10 sec all temperatures, pressures and digital information during production. Whenever needed, the operator can manually operate the system by means of the Touch Screen. He simply pushes a given button and the machine will execute the corresponding movement. The installation is divided into subsystems:
SKIP HOIST
PRIMARY COMBUSTION
SECONDARY COMBUSTION
HEAT RECUPERATION
DRY SCRUBBER UNITS
BAGHOUSE
etc.
The program will display all systems into a global view of the incinerator. This global view provides access to the subsystems of the subsystems by a simple click. As soon as the program is started, it will store the temperatures into a database. All digital inputs and outputs are also logged in that database. At the end of the day, the operator can ask to export the day content into text-files, for later follow-up or analyse. (Excel, Access, etc…)
Problems
In some circumstances, the installation will need some manual intervention during operation. When needed, the operator clicks on the "MANUAL" button. The operator supplies a valid password to confirm the request, then the maintenance mode is activated. Another click on the button disables it again and the incinerator works on "automatic mode".
Start up
In order to start up the waste incinerator, the incineration plant operator should check the following points:
Emergency stop not activated
All safety switches are activated - meaning the corresponding unit may run
PC software program is running
The incineration plant operator checks that the button "INSTALLATION ON" is GREEN on the Startup screen. If needed, he clicks on that button to activate the installation. The startup cycle on the incinerator will be activated and every subsystem will be started one by one automatically. The main burner will then start following a pre-programmed curve. The burner will switch ON/OFF according to the temperature.
As soon as the system has reached the correct temperature, the automatic feeding system will start filling the incinerator with waste.
